Dollars. Bucks. Bills. They’re synonymous with the United States currency. They have international use and acceptance and are a symbol of America. Compared to other global bank notes, the design of US currency is far less colorful and expressive. What might American money look like if we re-designed it?
Background
The purpose of this assignment is for students to gain historical and cultural understanding of currency and to apply acquired knowledge of visual identity, symbolism, typography, and visual composition to a system of designs. The goal is for the set of designs to be both functional and beautiful in use and form, possessing meaning in each decision and fostering greater inclusivity and accessibility.
